The First Step

As any self-help program will tell you, admitting you have a problem is the first step toward the solution.

In that case:
Hi, I’m Caitlin, and I have a clutter problem.

I’m a pack rat. A hoarder. However you slice it, I have too much stuff and it’s taking over not only my house, but also my life.

I’m not as bad as those you see on the news or documentaries. I don’t have mountains of old newspapers dating back to 1978, or rooms stuffed so full you can’t even open the door, or break into a cold sweat when I try to toss out last week’s junk mail.

What I do have is a messy, cluttered home. It’s reached critical mass now. It’s never been this bad, and it’s painfully embarrassing. So why am I admitting this to you? Why am I going to take photos of my embarrassing house and post them on the internet for all to see?

To help myself, and to maybe help someone else out there who has the same problems as me.

I work better with deadlines, so if I know I have readers waiting to see if I improved at all, or to see if I did what I said I’d do, I’m much more likely to actually do this stuff.

You are more than welcome to join me on my journal to a clutter-free life.
Happy decluttering!

Many people who suffer from anxiety also have panic attacks, or panic disorder. Panic attacks can also happen out of the blue to someone who wasn’t aware they were particularly anxious.

Panic attacks are a form of fear – in this case a fear of fear itself. Instead of an identifiable fear of an object that occurs every time they go near it, sufferers experience intense fear of the unknown. It’s a sort of internal and self-generated fear.

Hey, join the club!! My place is somewhat messy, and I guess you could say a cluttered home… but these days it seems to be the norm. Or am I wrong?? However, I don’t store old newspapers dating back to 1978 either. Come on, just how many people really keep that sort of old stuff or is it as you say too many to mention. Yikes!!
