I sat down to write this post yesterday and got stuck. I’m not yet used to the new Mondays-and-Thursdays posting schedule, though so far so good.
I couldn’t think of what to write about. I poked around on the Internet for a bit, looking for any new research studies or related breaking news, but wasn’t inspired.
They say if you don’t like the news, to go out and make some of your own, so I did. My living room was looking dismal. After the holidays I kinda just let it go, and it needed to be cleaned up.
Here’s the before:
Pretty bad, eh?
And after some time and effort, here’s the after:
Psst! If you click through to my Flickr page (both photos are links), you’ll see notes all over the photos of just what all that stuff is!
It took me longer than planned to get to the after stage, as you can see because it’s night in the second photo I had to retake this photo this morning, as when I was about to upload it I discovered that my first attempt was very blurry. I had to go out in the middle of the afternoon for a Con-G staff meeting. I co-founded and run an anime convention, which is amazingly fun, but a lot of work. Our meetings tend to run long, so by the time I got home and got the living room finished it was dark.
I got rid of a bag of recycling and a bag of garbage, and took what belonged in other rooms to those other rooms. That pretty much cleaned everything out, so then I vacuumed and dusted ran the soft fluffy vacuum attachment over the coffee table.
I guess getting a touch of writer’s block is good for me. After all, it got my living room cleaned today!
What did you declutter this weekend?
Psst! You can also add your own photos to the Cluttercubed Flickr pool! I’d love to see them!

That room looks awesome.
I just did the same thing with my comic book room. I finally sorted and organized things and it is again functional.
You have a comic book room? Sweet!
If you’d like to share before/after pics, you can upload them to the ClutterCubed Flickr group!
This weekend we cluttered the living room and the kitchen (getting some remodeling done).
I look forward to decluttering it all again though. Your room looks great!
How cool that you are part of an anime group! We enjoy anime too.

Yay for remodelling!
You like anime too? That’s cool! I always really like to find other people who do!
Good job it looks much better now.
You certainly handle writer’s block better than I do. I probably would have spent 8 hours browsing the internet and, if that failed to work, probably would have started raiding the wine cellar.

I’m trying! There was definitely a time when I would have just stayed on my butt in front of the computer waiting for something interesting to come along. I’m working on changing that and becoming more proactive, especially in my journey to a less cluttered, simpler life.
Hi Sweetie, No wonder you never invite me and Daddy over! I can’t believe you told me about this website. Good job on the livingroom, now Dax has some space to sprawl. Love you!
PS: now can we come over?
Har har, Mom. You can come over any time you want to make the 2 hour drive. Now there’s even a place to sit down!
I think the cat needs a bit of decluttering still. Like maybe a little diet. But she looks happier now.
I know I’m a little late in replying to this (just discovered your blog and am reading every past post). Love what you’ve done with the place. I, too, am constantly trying to de-clutter. I’ve accomplished a lot, but have a lot more to go! I can’t stop laughing because the cat didn’t move much….I can imagine you cleaning around it….too funny!
