It’s time for another Clutter Cubed Reader Challenge!
This week, I’d like everyone to get rid of three bags of something. It can be garbage/recycling. It can be clothes. It can be a jumble of things donated to charity, as long as it’s three bags (or 3 boxes) full of stuff gone from your house.
The challenge ends on the 21st, so you have one week. Leave a comment to say if you are participating. You can document your progress in your own blog (leave us a link here so we can check it out!) or here in the comments. Photo documentation is awesome, and can be uploaded to the Clutter Cubed Flickr Group.
Everyone who participates will be a winner, since you’ll have less clutter in your home, but I’ll have a special prize for one random participant: a copy of The Simple Guide to a Minimalist Life by Leo Babauta of ZenHabits. (affiliate link). It’s an ebook, so it won’t take up any room in your home at all!
The participants will be highlighted and the winner will be announced on March 22.
Come participate in the challenge!

Great challenge. I’m definitely up for it! Does size of the bag/box matter?
I’ve got no real firm idea in term of bag/box size, as long as it’s reasonable, and not like, 3 Ziplock sandwich baggies or something incredibly tiny.
I plan on using standard-size household garbage bags. Grocery-bag size would still be great.
I will sign up for this.
Yesterday I took out three bags of garbage AND two boxes of recyclables! Woo!
I’m in! bring it on.
Hi Caitlin,
I will be part of this great idea! As soon as I have the three bags I will share with you and all in the comments section.
Cheers,
Rebecca
I’m in! I’ve been purging for a while but haven’t done much this month. This challenge is just what I need as a kick start to get me motivated again.
I accept your challenge and will be victorious!!
I hope.
*Sigh* Three bags is a lot. I’m reconsidering….
No. I’m in. Three bags it is. I’ll either love you or hate you for this.

I’m in. Got a big time Urge to Purge happening since the weekend! Will blog about it soon. Great idea!
Count me in, I will do it before Thursday night!!!
Funny you should mention. On Monday I took 4 grocery size bags to Goodwill. On Tuesday I took out 2 recycle bags. Since my son is away this week, I plan to clean up some more. And, btw, it’s not as much a challenge for me as a fun time spending:)
Caitlin, I’d love to get into this.. but I took a look around my apartment and I don’t have ANYTHING I want to get rid of.
I use it, love it and/or need it.
:\
I only have one towel and one set of sheets, so towels are out. I also have one big bowl, one little bowl, and a number of plates.. so all of the kitchen stuff is out..
*sigh* I wish I could join in but I simply have nothing to purge.
My son is in a service club at his HS. Right now they are collecting clothing for a charity called “The Clothing Closet”. The goal is for each student to donate 50 items. At first I thought it would be hard to come up with that many things. My husband & I headed into our closet. He got rid pleated dress pants with cuffs that he doesn’t wear anymore, plaid shirts, old sweatpants, & t-shirts. I cleaned out some dresses I haven’t worn in years, blouses that are too short, & several pairs of shoes. I moved on to my daughter and son’s clothes and cleaned out things they have outgrown. It feels so great to pass these things along to bless someone else’ life. It’s amazing, but just cleaning out those things makes our house feel “lighter”.
It turned out to be far more than just 50 items.
Hey Caitlin,
Check your inbox, photo of my 3 bags attached!
Cheers
Greg

This is such a great challenge. I did a bag of trash, and two bags that I took to charity (one clothing, another holiday decor we no longer use). Great idea… hope you do it again sometime!
