Brain Clutter

Oops, I almost didn’t have a post for this morning! You’d think after almost 3 years of blogging I’d be better at remembering to write posts.

Ok, so I’ve only been blogging on schedule for about 4 months now, but still. I wish I was less of an “out of sight out of mind” type. :p

I wonder if that’s part of my clutter problem. I tend to keep things out so that I remember about them. Since I can’t leave my blog lying about on my desk, I forget about it sometimes. Or rather, it’s not so much that I forget it exists or anything, but more other things crowd into my head, and I don’t notice that I’m “missing” the blog in there.

I’ve always been terrible at remembering things, but this is getting ridiculous. I tend to get great ideas for blog posts while I’m putting on my coat, or driving, but by the time I actually get home, those thoughts are long gone.

I’m thinking of trying one of those little tiny voice recorders, but I’m worried it’ll just become another piece of clutter than I don’t use often. Even if I got an app instead, it’s not like I have my phone out while driving anyway. Maybe I should just wait until I can get a little USB port in the back of my neck and download all my great ideas directly. Good idea, Y/N?

What’s your best tip to declutter your brain and remember tasks while you’re busy doing something else?

A small notebook and a pen: if I use a different page for each item I can throw them in the right box when I get home. NOt that I am all that consistent about it, unfortunately!

I send myself an email (I work around computer). I also either text myself, or call home number and leave a message.

  3. There are several options. If I’m near a computer I e-mail myself.

I also keep on Dropbox my Microsoft Onenote files, so the ideas for everything I need I register there. For instance, ideas for blog posts, or tips for the next trip I’m planning.

You can also use the old pen and paper. Some gread ideas are written on napkins!!

Depending on your cell you can write notes to it! Or you can use the sound recorder to get it on the phone (better than to buy a digital recorder). If you usually have your digital camera with you you can record a movie talking about the idea.

  4. for me i HAVE to write it down and get it out of my brain while it is still floating around in there..otherwise i too will have it buried by all the other ‘clutter’ in my head
unfortunately most of my greatest inspirations come at 2am in the mornng…which means i have to crawl out of my nice warm bed, turn on a glaring light and take those notes….blah!

  5. I bought a voice recorder and it did turn into clutter! Skip the gadget and just do a notebook and a pen. I find it way easier for jotting down inspirations for blog posts and such.

That’s how my office wall looked before I started using a computer.
